DHS Restructures Cybersecurity Efforts

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has initiated the termination of 12 employees from its Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) involved in monitoring misinformation. Concurrently, DHS has suspended all election security activities pending a comprehensive review. This move aligns with President Trump’s executive order aimed at eliminating federal censorship related to political speech. The review, set to conclude by March 6, will determine the future direction of CISA’s election-related initiatives. This decision has raised concerns among election officials who have relied on CISA’s support to safeguard electoral infrastructure.
